Getting Ready for My First Conference Presentations
Go big or go home, I guess?

For some reason, it’s probably the ADHD, I never go for anything in the small simple way. I always find myself jumping in with both feet for better or worse. After OETC in February I challenged myself to find a conference and submit a proposal to present a session. So, when the High Impact Conference for Teachers popped up in my email I jumped right on it. It’s in Ohio, free to attend, and I’m a big fan of one of the keynote speakers. Yep, I’m talking about Eric Curts, if you are in EdTech and you don’t follow him, Matt Miller, and Alice Keeler are you really even an EdTech person?
But I digress… I didn’t just submit one proposal for my first experience, I submitted two. My thought was “Why not? If they pass on one at least I’ll have a back up.” Next thing I know, both of my proposals are approved and now I’m jumping in head first.

So, the moral of the story is why wade in to the baby pool when you can jump off the high dive. Or maybe it’s try to lasso the calves before you take on the bull? Who knows, I guess we’ll find out.
If you are planning to be at #HICE2024 come see me on Tuesday at 9:30 am for “Embracing Soft Skills to Help Students Be Work Ready” and again at 2:30 pm for “Building Your EdTech 6 Pack (and I Don’t Mean Abs).” And for Pete’s sake, if you see me hyperventilating into a paper bag before either session, look away, I’m fine, it’s fine, everything will be fine.
